How to Get Clump-free Lashes

Tweezerman Folding Eyelash Comb

A good eyelash comb is absolutely essential to getting clump-free lashes. Numerous mascaras get a bad wrap for being clumpy, but if you have a good eyelash comb and you comb your eyelashes swiftly and thoroughly after applying mascara, you'll find that lots of the mascaras that you thought were too thick or messy are actually pretty effective when you have the aid of your trusty eyelash comb.

When choosing an eyelash comb, you have to pick one that is high quality, has metal teeth, and either folds or has a cover.

The teeth must be metal for a few reasons. First, the reflectiveness of the metal makes it easy to see what you're doing (we've found that gold teeth are the most effective - please see our product recommendation below).

Did you know?

The average life- span of an eyelash is 150 days.

Second, metal teeth are superior to plastic because the metal is thin and sharp enough to enable you to precisely pick at and comb out any specific clumpy areas in your lashes.

Finally, a proper eyelash comb should also be folding or have a cover (though this is more rare) -- you don't want those fine metal teeth getting damaged -- or doing damage to you or any of your other products.

One last tip: As always, make sure to be extremely careful when using an eyelash comb! Never use it in a moving vehicle and only use it when you have a place to rest your elbow and ensure a steady hand. Furthermore, when combing your lashes or applying mascara, try to position your mirror so that you can look down into it. By doing this, you get a better view of your lashes and you are ideally positioned to comb your lashes up and away from your eye and, as a result, lessen the risk of injury.
